DBP-canvas

Designing Business Processes Broader than money and entrepreneurship

Following the course Disruptive Business Models and organizing a Business Model Canvas Workshop for my project group helped in learning what this competence means. The assignment taught me about business processes and the role of DBP in my studies.

Reflecting is for example not an activity that I only can use for my studies. In businesses it can be an essential instrument to improve a process. It is for example part of the maturity index on reliability (MIR).

MIR is about analyzing information flows in a process. The highest MIR level involves reflectingi besides measurement of feedback of the output, knowing who the actors are and solving the problem. Reflecting makes the difference between a process that stays on the same quality level and a process that learns and continuously improves itself.

The Business Model Canvas was useful as an exercise to connect aspects of DBP to the project. At this stage it is still complicated to turn the output in a viable business process though. The number of potential users is not clear, nor are the height of the possible costs.

Using the knowledge and skills I learned in this course and by reading the recommended book I will do an analysis of the design process of the group project in the basic course Engineering Design next quartile, to further develop this competency.
